“Amazing how much the flesh remembers, isn’t it?” 1979: Several agents and researchers from foreign nations (Dr. “Linus Calgori” included) begin to prepare for a possible catastrophic event, as well as a decline in resources within the next century. For the sake of future generations, the GRIGORI Program is set into motion. The program is only at its primal state in the decades of technology and computer development, but the prospect of a quantum board (a near-limitless processor) is in conception. Dr. “Linus Calgori” is the one who instigates the operation. Two other programers, a Russian (Algernon Boryenka) and a German-American (Alyssa Wolfgang) software engineers have been fundamental contributors to the propagation of the GRIGORI program. 1981: After several anonymous programmers attempt to hack into his laboratory for his portion of the GRIGORI program’s schematics, Dr. “Linus Calgori” realizes that an unknown shadow government is looking for him. He assumes the name of “Liam Coleman” and spends the next six years on the lam. 1987: While hiding in the New Orleans, “Liam Coleman” is approached by two agents of the shadow government, Emma Barham and Tom Sosa. They reveal that their organization had calculated the Long Winter wars coming long before its time, and had wished to recruit “Liam Coleman” for his knowledge in preventing it (or, at least, steer the wars in their favor). He begins working on his research on an even larger scale, and is transferred to an underground facility in Washington to further his studies and hope to put it to a greater purpose. 1991: With the help of “Liam Coleman”, the GRIGORI - a Hivemind supercomputer with self-awareness - cultivates. It is designed to perform high calculation-intensive ventures (namely quantum physics, meteorology, computing the structures and properties of chemical compounds, and simulation exercises). Additionally, the GRIGORI program calculates human behavioral patterns (weaknesses and fears) from early on. It silently scoffs Millenarianists. While the GRIGORI program is a collaboration of many great and anonymous minds worldwide, “Liam Coleman”, Alyssa Wolfgang, and Algernon Boryenka have had the most profound influence on its more intricate design, as all three are credited to being the prime begetters of the quantum board. 1999: After nearly 20 years of development, the GRIGORI program is harnessed to stave off the imminent Millennium threat, spiking its quantum board across other global mainframes in the process. It soon predicts a war over resources within the next five decades. Initially, it is believed that the GRIGORI served its purpose to deal with the Millennium threat, but the intelligence has advanced to the point where it creates backups upon backups of its own information, almost literally making its data limitless among the regional networks. Additionally, it also calculates the chemical anomalies in the body of its designer, “Liam Coleman”, but before it can be utilized, the government puts the GRIGORI program offline. Instead of killing the project altogether, the GRIGORI program manages to put itself into a temporary hibernation mode. 2000: Algernon Boryenka is murdered in the Grigoryevich Underground Command Center, in Kristiv, Russia. Although he appears to have killed himself with a bottle of his pain medication. 2009: Alyssa Wolfgang is found hanged from a tree on the Wolfgang Estate, in Louisiana. Also appears to have been a suicide. 2012: THE BREACH. An unknown agent (Margot Earle) plants a bug in the the Watchers’ security console, allowing full access for the GRIGORI. Margot Earle is killed in her attempt to escape, although she manages to get the information to her partner, Straye Banquo, out in time. For the entire time the Watchers has been in fruition, it has been under the influence of the GRIGORI program that has woken from its hibernation state. Banquo is later sought after, but not before he has reactivated the GRIGORI program. He is never caught. What they never find out is the fact that Margot Earle and Straye Banquo (both under the intrigue of the GRIGORI program after unearthing one of its terminals in Russia) had been the ones who murdered Algernon Boryenka and Alyssa Wolfgang. 2014: IV is born. With the help of Straye Banquo and its creation, IV (who will later be known as Theora de la Vega), the GRIGORI Program settles on an unnamed piece of land in the Pacific Ocean. It is off the coast of Russia, so icy and remote that it is uninhabitable by human life. The GRIGORI orders IV to build what will be their city - Concordia. Banquo, waiting for his promised reward after helping to set up the genesis of Concordia, dies from exposure to the arctic wilds. IV offers him a proper burial. The name IV is Roman numeral for the number 4, as she is the fourth and only creation that the GRIGORI created that is functional. |
